“Water maximum time an individual can go

“Water is the driving force of all nature” is a very well said quote by Leonardo da Vinci. Water has always been entwined in the complex ecological balance on Earth. Water is the most precious legacy provided by nature. It has no taste, no odour and no colour. It is found everywhere and is another name for life. It is the source life on earth. Imagine a drought situation: there are no rains, the rivers and lakes are dried up, and all plant life lay died and wasted. Can you live there? Both animals and plants need water to live. We can’t live on air and sunshine alone. We need food and water to survive. A healthy human can go for more than three weeks without food ( Mahatma Gandhi survived 21 days of complete starvation), but water is a different affair. Even the English poet, Wystan Hugh Auden wrote in his poem,’ First Things First ‘, “Thousands have lived without love, not one without water”. At least 60% of the adult body is made up of water and every living cell in the body needs it for better functioning. Water acts as a lubricant for our joints, it regulates our body temperature through sweating and respiration and helps to flush waste. The maximum time an individual can go without water is about a week – an estimate that would certainly be shorter in difficult conditions, like broiling heat. When we read about the origin of life on the earth, the first thing which comes to our mind is water. Technically speaking, water has unique chemical elements which are needed to nourish the cells of a living being. In conclusion, the importance of water can never be measured. We should be duty bound that our sources of water remain unpolluted.
