VISITATION OF ANGELS On the 12th of March 2018, exactly seven days after the Lord had instructed me to write about waiting on God, the next chapter of the book was revealed to me. The Lord sent angels to visit me. After their visitation, I was instructed to write a chapter about them.I had a vision whereby angels had visited me at my home.
They were quite numerous. I knew how many they were and still know their number even right now but Holy Spirit later instructed me not to reveal their number. He told me that these are angels that had been assigned to me.There are times when the Lord would reveal something to you and let you know that this is for you only, and when such happens, do not share it with other people. It is yours!Revelation 2:17″He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna to eat. And I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows EXCEPT HIM WHO RECIEVES IT”.

(Emphasis added) In the vision, angels were all over the yard of my home, and some were inside the house, as well as in my bedroom. My parents had visitors, therefore they instructed me to go and visit one of our church members along with my “friends” (the angels) as they saw them in the vision. We were so many that I was even worried as to how we would all fit into a small car. After the vision, the Lord ensured me not to worry about the car being overloaded because these are spirit beings. I was still curious at why such a number of angels had been assigned to me, but it is something that I will discuss further in this chapter. You may be wondering what the role of angels might be. Well, let’s look at what the Bible says about them.
What you are about to read is not a comprehensive description of angels, but rather, selected information of the vast and unending knowledge that is written about angels in the Word of God. This chapter may seem quite long, and it sure is, but let me assure you my dear friend: this is not all the information that the Bible has about angels. If we had to focus just on angels and their ministry, there would actually be a need for a separate book, just on angels. We will be looking at some of the attributes, types and roles of angels. We will also look at fallen angels who had been cast out of Heaven.ANGELS ARE ETERNAL BEINGSLuke 20: 34 – 36Jesus answered and said to them, “The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage. But those who are counted worthy to attain that age, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry nor are given in marriage.Nor can they die anymore, for they are equal to the angels and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection”.
In this portion of Scripture, the Lord Jesus Christ was addressing the Sadducees regarding the marriage of a brother’s wife once the brother dies. The Lord notes that marriage is a concern of those whose focus is on earthly things, but for one whose eyes are set on things that are above, they will resurrect once they have died. The Lord then said that they are also regarded equal to angels because they now possess eternal life. This shows that angels are eternal beings, and as soon as you are in the kingdom of God, you are also regarded as the angels are, and possess one of their qualities, which is eternity. It is therefore clear that angels are eternal beings. They are unable to die. Hence even those who rebelled with the devil still exist today, but of course, these fallen angels will eventually be destroyed as we will discuss further in the chapter.
The other significant aspect of angels seen in this scripture and similarly in Mark 12:25 is that angels do not reproduce. As spirit beings, they do not have the ability to reproduce after their own kind.ALTHOUGH ANGELS ARE SPIRITUAL BEINGS, THERE ARE QUALITIES THAT THEY DO NOT HAVEUnlike the Trinity, there are qualities that angels do not possess which are only found in God. In terms of their spiritual attributes, they are more advanced than us human beings at the moment, but they have been ordered to serve us (Psalm 8:4-5).
Firstly, angels are not omniscient. We know that our God is an all-knowing God, but that is an attribute that angels do not possess.Matthew 24:36But of the day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but my Father only.We see in this verse that Jesus Christ mentions that there are things that not even angels know, but God alone.
He was referring to His Second Coming, when He would return to take us back to our eternal home. This clearly shows that the Lord has limited the knowledge of angels, although at the moment, they are slightly higher than humanity in their spiritual standing.Although they do know more than us, they are not God. Their knowledge is limited.
Secondly, angels are not omnipotent. They are powerful and have strength, as we will see further in the chapter, but their strength is limited to a certain extent, as determined by God.Romans 8:38 – 39For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things to come,Nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. The apostle Paul notes in this portion of Scripture that there are certain things or beings that may attempt to separate us from the love of God, but will not be successful. Some of these beings are angels.
Their strength is unfortunately for them incapable of breaking the bond that you and I have with the Lord Jesus Christ. Even their wisdom is insufficient for them to separate us from the Lord. Our love for our Lord and Master is inseparable, even for the mighty angels.Hence we see in this portion of Scripture that the mighty angels have limited strength.
This also suggests that there is order in the heavenly realm. Similarly, as a result of the spiritual strength of angels being limited, rebellious ‘angels’ still attempt to separate us from Christ, but as the Word of God says, they are unable to separate us from the love of our Master.Thirdly, angels are not omnipresentDaniel 10:13But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left alone there with the kings of Persia.Had angels been present everywhere, Daniel would not have said that Michael came to his aid. This means that there was a point that the said angel was not around. Unlike God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, who are omnipresent, angels do not possess this quality. An angel can only be in one place at a specific time.
ANGELS WERE ALSO CREATED TO WORSHIP THE LORDPsalm 148: 2 – 5Praise Him, all His angels; Praise Him, all His hosts!Praise Him, sun and moon; Praise Him, all you stars of light!Praise Him, you heavens of heavens, and you waters above the heavens!Let them praise the name of the Lord, For He commanded and they were created.Job 38: 4 – 7Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding.Who determined its measurements? Surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it?To what were its foundations fastened? Or who laid its cornerstone,When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?Even before we existed on the face of the earth, angels had already been worshipping our Heavenly Father.
The creation of mankind does not now mean that they are exempt from rendering worship to the Lord. Hence, it is biblical for angels to worship. So, one of the role or duties of angels is worship.ANGELS ARE MINISTERING SPIRITSHebrews 1: 13 – 14But to which of the angels has He ever said:”Sit at My right hand, Till I make your enemies Your footstool”?Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?Angels are also referred to as ministering spirits. Since we are not yet in the place of the Redeemed of the Lord, we are still on the face of this mortal earth. There is therefore a great need for the ministry of angels for our protection. Angels have been sent by the Lord as His response to our prayers.
He sends forth His angels to meet our needs. They are actually serving the Lord, but through serving us, just as when we serve one another, we are serving our Lord and Saviour. Their servanthood is their ministry.
Hence they are referred to as ‘ministering spirits’.Matthew 4:11Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.After Jesus Christ overcame His temptation, He was attended to by angels.
The Bible does not mention exactly what they were doing, but we know that they ministered to the Lord. Just as the Word of God is ministered to us to fill our spiritual hunger, I believe that angels minister to us to as a means to fill us in accordance to our need, be it spiritual or natural.Genesis 16: 7 – 11Now the angel of the Lord found her by a spring of water in the wilderness, by the spring on the way to Shur.
And He said, “Hagar, Sarai’s maid, where have you come from, and where are you going?” She said, “I am fleeing from the presence of my mistress Sarai.”The Angel of the Lord said to her, “Return to your mistress, and submit yourself under her hand.”Then the angel of the Lord said to her, “I will multiply your descendants exceedingly, so that they shall not be counted for multitude.
“And the Angel of the Lord said to her:”Behold, you are with child, and you shall bear a son, you shall call his name Ishmael, because the Lord has heard your affliction.”In this portion of Scripture, we see an interesting story of Hagar meeting an angel after she had been sent off by Sarai. As she was in a miserable, hopeless condition, an angel of the Lord was sent to minister to Hagar. This again shows that there are angels who are sent to minister to our lives. They minister to our specific needs for that specific moment. Hence, it is also important for us to develop the gift of discernment in order to understand whenever angels come to minister to us. At times, they may come in the form of people, even our close friends, family members, or even church members. Sometimes they may even be people that we do not know.
Hebrews 13:2Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels.SPIRITUAL GIFTSAt some point, a few days after the Lord revealed my angels for the first time, Holy Spirit revealed to me that angels are also there to release our spiritual gifts according to the Will of God. To see all spiritual gifts, Read 1 Corinthians 12:4-11. The Lord also revealed to me that for every spiritual gift that someone has, there is an angel in that person’s life to minister the gift to him or her. For example, if you have the gift of healing, it means that you also have the angel of healing who brings healing from Heaven at the needed time. Again, if you have the gift of prophecy, one of the angels that are with you is the angel of prophecy, whose role is to take prophetic messages from the Spirit of God and bring it to you.
This is what I spoke of in the opening of this chapter. There are many angels that surround you and each of them has a specific role to play.Dear friend, I believe that with this revelation, you will know that there are angels at your disposal for every spiritual gift that you possess. Hence the apostle Paul notes that there shall be a time when angels shall actually give an account to us.1 Corinthians 6:3Do you not know that we shall judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life?If the Word of God says that we shall judge angels, it means that there are specific duties that they are supposed to perform.
I pray that the Lord may reveal to you the angels that are at your disposal as you continue to read the pages of this book in Jesus’ Name. May He open your eyes to see, discern, and know the angels that God has released to serve you in worship of our Heavenly Father. My friend, I am a person who loves listening to music a lot. Even when I am working at my home, I put on my headsets and play music. Anyways, I am so in love with music that I have two sets of headsets. On the 2nd of April 2018, my favourite headsets had been missing. It had been almost a week since I had seen them.
Worried, I asked Holy Spirit why I could not see my headphones, which I had recently bought. In His response, He instructed me to instruct the angel of knowledge to guide me. I did as instructed. I then heard a small voice telling me to search on my headboard. I searched on one side of the headboard and did not find them.
As soon as I put my head up and looked toward the other side of the headboard, I saw that some of my books were not packed as I usually pack them, I suspected that there was something underneath those books. Guess what? I was right. My headphones were right underneath those books. This made me realise the truth in the Word of God that the Lord really wants to become our companion. He does not just look at the serious aspects of life, but He is also concerned even of the minute aspects of our lives.Matthew 6:30Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So, dear friend, if you do not instruct the angels that the Lord had placed for you, they will not work for you. They are waiting for instructions from you in order to serve you.
ANGELS ARE ALSO FELLOW SERVANTS WITH USRevelation 22: 8 – 9Now I, John, saw and heard these things. And when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things. Then he said to me, “See that you do not do that. For I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.
“Just as we are servants of the Lord, angels are fellow servants with us. They also minister along with us. At times, they may assist us in activities that we are engaged in, if we allow them. One night in church during our midweek service, two intercessors were praying for a young child. As they did so, I saw an angel who stood in between these two intercessors and poured something that looked like sugar on the child’s head. Again, I saw this specific angel putting something in the very same child’s pocket, although I did not see what this substance was.
In my spirit, I believe that the Lord was adding joy to this child and he would grow to become wealthy, as the angel had put something in his pocket, knowing that the pocket is where we keep our material wealth. With this, I was assured of the fact that angels are fellow servants, but we should also allow them to conduct their duties without disturbing their ministry. We need to know that whatever it is that we are doing in service to the Lord, there are angels that are serving with us.
Even when I was writing this part of the book, I could sense the presence of an angel to give me wisdom to write this book. I really felt honoured for what the Lord was doing in my life and I continually praise Him for what He is doing.ANGELS ARE POWERFUL2 Thessalonians 1:7And to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from Heaven with His mighty angels.2 Peter 2: 9 – 11Then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgement,And especially those who walk according to the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority. They are presumptuous, self-willed. They are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries.Whereas angels, who are greater in power and might, do not bring a reviling accusation against them before the Lord. Isaiah 37:36Then the angel of the Lord went out, and killed in the camp of the Assyrians one hundred and eighty-five thousand; and when people arose early in the morning, there were corpses – all dead.
Angels are indeed powerful. They possess much supernatural strength as we see in the abovementioned portions of Scripture. As the apostle Paul writes to the Thessalonians, when the Lord returns to take us back home, He will come along with His ‘mighty’ angels. That is how they are described because they possess such supernatural strength. This is practically seen in the mighty angel of the Lord who was able to singlehandedly kill more than three quarters of a million well trained soldiers in just one night. If just one angel possesses such strength, imagine how much power there is around you with the number of angels that surround you. Glory to God! You are indeed very important to God dear friend.
Do not let anyone or any situation discourage you. The Lord loves you so much that He has assigned angels to be with you all the time, wherever you go.Since God the Father is high and exalted, seated on His holy throne, He assigns angels to perform specific duties that He wants to be done. In some instances, their strength is needed.
That is why they ought to be powerful.CHERUBIM AND SERAPHIMThe cherubim are the first angels to be mentioned in the Bible.Genesis 3:24So He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life. The Cherubim are seen in this verse, having been placed by God as protection against eating fruit from the tree of life. It was not yet the time for Adam and Eve to eat from that tree as their time to live forever had not yet come. We see in this portion of Scripture that if the cherubim are depicted as protecting the tree, it means that they have sufficient physical and spiritual strength to ensure that what they are mandated to do is adhered to perfectly. The Bible also mentions that Satan, or Lucifer, was also a cherub before he rebelled against the Lord.Ezekiel 28:14You were the anointed cherub who covers; I established you; you were on the holy mountain of God; you walked back and forth in the midst of fiery stones.
When King Solomon built a temple for the Lord, he ensured that cherubim are made and placed in the Most Holy Place of the Temple.1 Kings 6: 23 – 28Inside the inner sanctuary he made two cherubim of olive wood, each ten cubits high. One wing of the cherub was five cubits, and the other wing of the cherub five cubits: ten cubits from the tip of one wing to the tip of the other. And the other cherub was ten cubits; both cherubim were of the same size and shape. The height of one cherub was ten cubits, and so was the other cherub. Then he set the cherubim inside the inner room; and they stretched out the wings of the cherubim so that the wings of the one touched one wall, and the wing of the other cherub the other wall.
And their wings touched each other in the middle of the room. Also he overlaid the cherubim with gold. When the Tabernacle was built by the direction of the Lord, there were two cherubim that were made.
They were positioned in the Holy of Holies, at the two ends of the Mercy Seat above the Ark of the Covenant. Them being placed there was again symbolic of the cherubim that had protected the Garden of Eden after the fall of mankind. This then shows that the cherubim are powerful angels of protection since they are symbolic of the protection of the Most Holy Place. Now, let us look at the seraphim.
Isaiah 6: 2 – 3Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one cried to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory!”The seraphim are among the angels closest to God. They attend directly to whatever the Lord says from His throne which is high and lifted up.
Hence it was a cherub that attended the prophet Isaiah at his commissioning.A notable difference between the cherubim and the seraphim is that the cherubim have four wings and four faces, whereas the seraphim have six wings and only one face. It is only in the temple, or tabernacle that the images of the cherubim that were made had two wings.
Ezekiel 1: 5 – 12Also from within it came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance: they had the likeness of a man. Each one had four faces, and each one had four wings.Their legs were straight, and the soles of their feet were like the soles of calves’ feet.
They sparkled like the colour of burnished bronze. The hands of a man were under their wings on their four sides; and each of the four had faces and wings.Their wings touched one another. The creatures did not turn when they went, but each one went straight forward. As for the likeness of their faces, each had the face of the man; each of the four had the face of a lion on the right side, each of the four had the face of an ox on the left side, and each of the four had the face of an eagle.
Thus were their faces. Their wings stretched upward; two wings of each one touched one another, and two covered their bodies. And each one went straight forward; they went wherever the spirit wanted to go, and they did not turn when they went. We see in the Word of God that the Seraphim are always mentioned as being very close to the Throne of our Heavenly Father, although, as I had alluded before, it is a seraph that was involved in the commissioning of the prophet Isaiah.Isaiah 6: 5 – 7So I said: “Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.”Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the alter. And he touched my mouth with it, and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; your iniquity is taken away, and your sin is purged. As a result of what the seraph had done to Isaiah, he was able to be sent by the Lord to do His work in the nation of Israel, which was proclaiming His word.
With this dear friend, it shows that each angel has a role to play, and we need to understand that angels are different and unique in their roles, as we shall see reading further.ARCHANGELSRevelation 8:2And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and to them were given seven trumpets.Luke 1:19And the angel answered and said to him, “I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God, and was sent to speak to you and bring you glad tidings”. Archangels occupy the highest rank amongst the angels, and there are only seven such angels as we see in the book of Revelation. These angels are also among the closest to the throne of God Almighty, as you can see from these verses written above. Such angels are mostly depicted as not only responsible for a select few, but for whole nations, which means that they have much greater authority among the angelic force.
Archangels also have authority over other angels.Although there are seven archangels, we only find the names of two of these angels in the Bible (Daniel 10:13 and Daniel 8:16). These two verses that I have quoted are not the only verses where these archangels are mentioned, but you can find them in a few more scriptures across the Bible. The names of these two archangels are Gabriel and Michael. These angels not only stand before the throne of God, but they are also seen to perform duties that we see other angels performing, although they are distinct because there are only seven of them. The rest of the angelic force is an uncountable number of angels.
1 Thessalonians 4:16For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.According to this verse, the apostle Paul seems to emphasise that an archangel will usher in the Second Coming of our Lord and Saviour.
Most Bible commentaries predict that it might be the sound of the archangel Michael who will usher in the Second Coming of our Lord and Saviour.Revelation 12:7And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought.Again, this is just to emphasise once again that archangels also engage in war.
We shall see furthermore as we read about angels of war.ANGEL OF WARI have had the privilege of seeing one of these mighty angels. On the 19th May 2018, as I was on my bed in my room, I literally saw an angel passing through the room from our lounge. I cannot explain whether I saw him in a vision or naturally, but I am sure with all my being that I saw an angel passing by in my bedroom. The angel was pure white in colour from top to bottom.
He had a body shaped like that of a bear that was standing up but had behind him two long and very strong wings. This was actually the very first time that I had seen that angels have wings. I had heard from testimonies of other people who had seen angels that they have wings, but I had not seen them with wings before this encounter. As I had mentioned before, the body of this angel was shaped like that of a bear standing up. He was so fiercely muscular and had a sword on his loins. Somehow, I knew that this was an angel of war.
I do not know how I had received that kind of supernatural knowledge, but I believe that Holy Spirit allowed my angel of knowledge to reveal that to me.Immediately after seeing this angel of war, I had a vision where the Lord allowed me to see how this angel of war engages in battle, although I only saw a glimpse of how he uses the arsenal at his disposal. In the vision, I saw this angel fighting against a human being. I do not know why I saw him fighting against a person. This angel just flapped one of his wings onto the person’s face. The person immediately fell down and died on the spot.During this time when I was in the spiritual state of seeing the angel and having the vision, there are more things that I further knew about this angel of war, although I have no idea how I knew these things.
I knew how this angel would fight if he fully engaged in a battle with his whole body. He would actually fight like a fully grown bear, but also use his sword and wings. Dear friend, just go on YouTube to see how bears fight, then you will get glimpses of how the angel of war engages in battle. This angel was just patrolling my home as he was from the lounge to my room, then to the shelter where our family’s cars had been parked. Again this was just to show you that angels are indeed powerful. ANGELS OPERATE IN BOTH THE NATURAL AND SUPERNATURAL REALMLuke 2: 8 – 15Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.
“For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord.”And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.”And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of heavenly host praising God and saying:”Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, “Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.”It is interesting to see that we mostly read about such angelic encounters in the Bible, but why is it quiet rare for us to hear of such encounters in our day and age? The answer is simple… “My people are destroyed because of lack of knowledge…” (Hosea 4:6).I believe that if we knew and understood who we are and who’s we are according to the Bible, encounters with angels would be a common occurrence. Dear friend, as I was writing this book, I was also prayerfully asking God to open the spiritual eyes of whoever would be reading what had been written in these scripts.
I believe that the moment you understand and grasp the truthfulness of the Word of God, you will encounter the works of angels like never before in your life. It is wonderful to know that we can still encounter angels as long as we are still walking in the Will of God, our Heavenly Father.Revelation 7: 1 – 3After these things I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, on the sea, or on any tree. Then I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God. And he cried with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it was granted to harm the earth and the sea,Saying, “Do not harm the earth, the sea, or the trees till we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads.” In this portion of Scripture, John saw a vision which was symbolic of peace, hence the winds were restrained. Winds are symbolic of commotion, and we know that whenever there is a storm, there is always wind. The gist of this portion of our chapter is to show that indeed angels, which are spirit beings, have an impact on the physical realm.
John’s description of his vision is indeed clearly showing that these spirit beings were seen influencing the natural realm, and this is not the only part of Scripture where angels influence the natural realm.Numbers 22: 21 – 35So Balaam rose in the morning, saddled his donkey, and went with the prince of Moab. Then God’s anger was aroused because he went, and the Angel of the Lord took His stand in the way as an adversary against him. And he was riding on his donkey, and his two servants were with him.Now the donkey saw the Angel of the Lord standing in the way with His drawn sword in His hand, and the donkey turned aside out of the way and went into the field.
So Balaam struck the donkey to turn her back onto the road. Then the Angel of the Lord stood in a narrow path between the vineyards, with a wall on this side and a wall on that side. And when the donkey saw the Angel of the Lord, she pushed herself against the wall; so he struck her again. Then the Angel of the Lord went further, and stood in a narrow place where there was no way to turn either to the right hand or to the left. And when the donkey saw the Angel of the Lord, she lay down under Balaam; so Balaam’s anger was aroused, and he struck the donkey with his staff.
Then the Lord opened the mouth of the donkey and she said to Balaam, “What have I done to you, that you have struck me these three times?”And Balaam said to the donkey, “Because you have abused me. I wish there were a sword in my hand, for now I would kill you!”So the donkey said to Balaam, “Am I not your donkey on which you have ridden, ever since I became yours, to this day? Was I ever disposed to do this to you? And he said, “No.”Then the Lord opened Balaam’s eyes, and he saw the Angel of the Lord standing in the way with His drawn sword in His hand; and he bowed his head and fell flat on his face. And the angel of the Lord said to him, “Why have you struck your donkey these three times? Behold, I have come out to stand against you, because your way is perverse before Me.
“The donkey saw Me and turned aside from Me these three times. If she had not turned aside from Me, surely I would also have killed you by now, and let her live.”And Balaam said to the Angel of the Lord, “I have sinned, for I did not know You stood in the way against me. Now therefore, if it displeases You, I will turn back.”Then the Angel of the Lord Said to Balaam, “Go with the men, but only the word that I speak to you, that you shall speak.” So Balaam went with the princes of Balak. In this interesting portion of Scripture, we see again the penetration of the supernatural onto the natural.
Interestingly though, it was the donkey who first saw the angel before Balaam did. The Apostle Paul alludes to this when he writes to the Romans. Romans 8: 19For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the sons of God.I have interestingly noted in the Word of God that there are special events which are connected to creation, or creatures of the Lord. When the first man, Adam, was created, he was placed in the Garden, whereby there were animals which are the creation of God. Similarly, after the Lord destroyed the earth with a flood, there were animals that were around in the restoration of creation with Noah and his family. Even when the Lord Jesus Christ was born, there was actually no room for His birth to the point whereby he had to be born in a stable, where you once again find the creation of God. One thing that I have also noted with regard to creation is that life all started in the Garden of Eden.
After the fall of man, our restoration also started in the Garden of Gethsemane.Back to the story of Balaam, the donkey as a form of creation was able to see the supernatural, which is exactly how we ought to be living as children of God. Balaam’s eyes were later opened by the grace of God and he was able to see what exactly the donkey was seeing.Dear friend, I believe that as children of God, we can experience Heaven on Earth, in accordance to our faith. Just as the Angel of the Lord spoke to Balaam, it is still possible in our days for the holy angels of the Lord to interact with us.
As you shall see further in this chapter, I have personally had an encounter whereby an angel spoke to me, and if you believe, you will definitely experience the visitation of angels my dear friend.ANGELS HAVE WISDOM2 Samuel 14:20To bring about this change of affairs your servant Joab has done this thing; but my Lord is wise, according to the wisdom of the angel of God, to know everything that is in the earth.Acts 7: 51 – 53″You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you.”Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? And they killed those who foretold the coming of the Just One, of whom you now have become the betrayers and murderers,”who have received the law by the direction of angels and have not kept it.” In the first Scripture, a wise woman was given a narrative by Joab to speak to the king, which was untrue.
In summary, Joab told this woman to pretend as though she is mourning the death of one of her two sons, who was apparently killed by her other son. She had to make a request to the king not to kill her only remaining son as that would mean the end of her family name. The king then granted her request, but then noticed that all this was planned by Joab. When he found out, the woman responded in verse 20 by saying that the king was able to find this out because he possesses the wisdom of the angel of God.
Once again, we see that angels also possess wisdom. This is a great revelation dear reader! This woman is described as a wise woman (2 Samuel 14:2), hence she was able to identify that what David had said to her was as a result of the wisdom of the angel of the Lord. This takes us back to the revelation that there is an angel for every gift that you possess.
The king had wisdom, which means that he also had the angel of wisdom who would guide him when the gift of wisdom was needed. In the second Scripture again, Stephen was actually rebuking those who were about to persecute him. As the Holy Spirit had given him utterance, he showed them how stubborn they were in resisting the Holy Spirit.
He said that their forefathers had received the law by the direction of angels but they had still not been obedient. What he was trying to further tell them was that they had been disobedient when the law was given by angels, but now, it is revealed by the Holy Spirit yet they are still resistant. The focus of our discourse is on Stephen’s argument that the law was given through the direction of angels.
This again shows that angels would not have wisdom if they were unable to direct. These are just a couple of examples that show us that angels have the ability to direct us. As I had noted previously that they are able to operate in both the physical and supernatural realm, all that is required from you and I is to develop the gift of discernment in order to be able to interact with the angelic force of God.ANGELS HAVE EMOTIONSJob 38: 4 – 7″Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding, Who determined its measurements? Surely you know!To what were its foundations fastened? Or who laid its cornerstone,When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?In this portion of Scripture, the Lord was responding to His servant Job. In the seventh verse, God mentions that before the foundations of the earth, angels were already engaged in worship. Before we discuss their emotional attribute, let us just look at the way in which angels are described in verse 7.
In this verse, God refers to angels as “morning stars”. It may look as though there is some contradiction in the Bible because the Lord Jesus Christ is also referred to as the “Morning Star” in Revelation 22:16. There is actually no contradiction. In Isaiah 14:12, Lucifer is referred to as a “morning star”, just as in the abovementioned scripture, the rest of the angels that were worshipping are also mentioned as “morning stars” who sang together. This is similar to the depiction of Jesus Christ as the Lion of the Tribe of Judah and the devil as a roaring lion. A roaring lion just seeks to devour other creatures while Christ as the Lion is a symbol of kingship. When we look closely at the depiction of angels and Christ, we see clearly that Jesus Christ is not just a ‘morning star’, but He is the “Bright and Morning Star”.
Revelation 22:16I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star”.This verse clearly shows that the Lord Jesus Christ is not just a morning star, but the Bright and Morning Star and the rest of the angels are morning stars. Now back to the emotional attributes of angels, verse 7 of Job 38 notes that as the angels worshipped, there was joy. They were worshipping and shouting with joy. Therefore, dear friend, please know that angels are also able to experience joy like you and I.
Luke 15: 10Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.Again, the Lord Jesus Christ shows us that angels are also able to celebrate joyously. When someone repents or gives their life to Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour, angels also rejoice.1 Peter 1:12To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to us they were ministering the things which now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven – things which angels desire to look into.In this portion of Scripture, Peter is actually giving a word of encouragement. In context of what he is addressing, he was telling the Church of his time that the salvation that they were experiencing, which we also experience today, is something that the angels and prophets of old desired to experience. In a nutshell, the Apostle Peter is showing us how privileged we are. He says that even angels desire to experience what we see in Christ.
For us to receive this gift of salvation is still a wonder to the mighty angels. Desire is an emotional attribute, which is also found in angels, just as we had said that they also have emotions just like you and I.Dear friend, I hope and believe that you have seen more than enough already in this chapter to be convinced that you are highly favoured by our Heavenly Father, although there is still more for you to see… just continue reading further.ANGELS ARE EXTREMELY FASTAngels have the ability to be extremely fast. An angel may appear like lightning, which is about the speed of light. One evening as we were praying in our church, I actually saw this happening.
I saw something like light that hovered over the church. This light moved from the front of the church, which was at the stage, to the back of the church then back to the stage, in literally less than a second.Ezekiel 1:14And the living creatures ran back forth, in appearance like a flash of lightning.
SOME FUNCTIONS OF ANGELS We will now look at some of the duties or functions that angels perform. As I had said in the beginning of this chapter, this is not everything that is contained in the Word of God about angels, as that would require its own book. Hence, what you are about to read are just ‘some’ of the functions of angels, and not everything there is to know.ANGELS WATCH OVER USDaniel 12:1At that time Michael shall stand up, the great prince who stands watch over the sons of your people; and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never since there was a nation, even to that time.
And at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone who is found written in the book. This portion of Scripture refers to what the antichrist shall be doing. He will set up his kingdom in Israel and ensure that he subdues the whole world. Furthermore, the angel Michael will fight for God’s people, the people of Israel, against this oppressor.
Michael the angel will be Israel’s defender during the Tribulation period when the enemy tries to eradicate God’s chosen nation. We see then that one of the functions of angels is to watch over us as God’s people, or defend us when needed.Daniel 4:13I saw in the vision of my head while on my bed, and there was a watcher, a holy one, coming down from heaven.Daniel 4:17This decision is by the decrees of the watchers, and the sentence by the word of the holy ones, in order that the living may know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, gives it to whomever He will, and sets it to the lowest of men.Daniel 4:23And inasmuch as the king saw a watcher, a holy one coming down from heaven and saying, ‘Çhop down the tree and destroy it, but leave its stump and roots in the earth, bound with a band of iron and bronze in the tender grass of the field; let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let him graze with the beasts of the field, till seven times pass over him’.
Psalm 34:7The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, and delivers them.In the first verse, King Nebuchadnezzar is explaining his dream. He says that he saw a ‘watcher’ who had come from Heaven. This was actually an angel. Angels are also referred to as ‘watchers’ because one of their other roles or assignments is to watch over us, God’s children. In the portion of Scripture, the angel had been bringing a message to Nebuchadnezzar, which is also one of the roles of angels.
They may bring messages from God through dreams and visions. Elsewhere in the Bible, angels had watched over Lot, ensuring that his life is spared from the destruction of Sodom. This is just one other example over many other times in the Bible where angels are mentioned.
In verse seventeen of Daniel 4, we see again the appearance of an angel. This time, we also see again the authority of angels in that they have set a decree to the glory of our Heavenly Father. They do not do this in their own accord, but are subject to God. They not only watch over the affairs of man, but they have also been entrusted with other high and important duties as designated by God.The fact that angels watch over us is further reiterated in Daniel 4:23. King Nebuchadnezzar had seen in his vision a tree being chopped down, which was symbolic of him being removed from his position of authority.
Our focus in this verse is on the watcher who brought the message of the tree having to be cut down. The angel is once again referred to as a watcher because that is one of the angels’ roles over our lives. This is further reiterated in Psalm 34:7. David notes that the Lord’s divine protection is around those who fear Him, courtesy of the holy angels.
So, dear friend, please note that there are always angels that have been dispatched by our Heavenly Father just to keep watch over your life.ANGELS OF DEATHThese angels have a diversity of roles or functions to play, but they are mainly working with the process of death. Firstly, angels of death are responsible for escorting the spirits of believers to the Kingdom of God once the person has died. It is the angel of death who will welcome you into the afterlife.Luke 16:22So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom…2 Kings 2:11Then it happened, as they continued on and talked, that suddenly a chariot of fire appeared with horses of fire, and separated the two of them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.ANGEL OF THE CHURCHThere are angels who have been set over churches all over the world. Dear friend, the Lord had revealed to me that in all His churches, there is actually an angel who is responsible for that church. For every service that there is, this angel would bring a report to the Lord about the whole service.
So, dear friend, please know that there is an angel in your church who sends a report to the Lord about all that had happened during the service. When the pastor is ministering, the angel of the church is not far from him or her. I have had the privilege of seeing the angel of our church on several occasions. On the 4th of October 2017, I saw this specific angel.
In the vision, one of the pastors who is a spiritual son of my father was dancing in the Spirit. My father then said this dance was not just an ordinary dance, but this person was actually being used by the Lord to prophesy through dance. I could not see who this pastor was as the Lord had hidden his or her identity from me.As the pastor continued dancing, my father called one of the church members, an intercessor, to come forward. When she came, she was told that she is the one who would interpret what was being prophesied. She cried as she was going to the front and I heard her saying to herself that she does not know what she was going to say or how she would interpret the dance. It was at that moment that I saw an angel.
The angel was standing at the Alter in front of the Church. He was tall, muscular, and had a radiant face, yet bright in complexion. He had a sword that was on his loin.
As this intercessor was crying, I saw the angel leaving the Alter to come and wipe the tears off her face.I believe that the reason that the Lord showed me this angel was to show me that these heavenly beings are able to take the role of warrior or comforter as the need arises. Angels are there to protect us, but they are also there to comfort us. I again saw this angel on the 2nd of May 2018, although he took the form of an apostle, a human being. In this vision, I was in church with some of the youth. One of the people who serve in the church’s office called me and told me that the apostle wanted to see me. When I saw that it was someone different from my father, I was a bit confused, until I got the interpretation of this vision from my father when I woke up in the morning. When I went into the office, he sat on the opposite side of the table from where I had been sitting and started talking to me.
He told me that I have the gift of prophecy, although the Holy Spirit will make it to operate differently. The angel said that there would be times whereby I will prophesy through signs and at other times through dance, but he will make sure that I am always by his side, so that when I prophesy, he would be able to give me the interpretation of the sign or dance.I have noticed that in these occasions when I saw the angel of the church, prophecy and dance were always there. These are things that we always see in our church. Dear friend, I believe that in every ministry, there is a specific gift that is more dominant that others in that church, and that is why we all need each other as the Body of Christ. The most dominant gift is usually the one that your church will be mostly known for.
During the 2017 Easter Saturday evening service, I was privileged to see two angels at the Alter of our church. There are several other occasions whereby I would see or discern the presence of angels during our services. It is actually scriptural that every church has its own angel.Revelation 2:1To the angel of the church of Ephesus write…Revelation 2:8And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write…Revelation 2:12And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write…Revelation 2:18And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write…Revelation 3:1And to the angel of the church in Sardis write…Revelation 3:7And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write…Revelation 3:14And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans writeBased on these two chapters of the book of Revelation, we can see that there is an angel for each church.
It is also clear from these churches that as a result of the angel in each church, there are specific ministries or gifts or ministries that each church excels in, and each church has its own flaws or weaknesses. Hence, we need each other as the Body of Christ in order to complement one another.CODESAI am a member of Jesus Can … Life Centre Ministries. During our services, there are times whereby people would be moved by the Holy Spirit or the visitation of angels.
One of our church members has given such movement by the angelic a name. Whenever someone in the church is being touched by the Lord during the service and does any uncontrollable movements, we say that they are moved by codesa’s. At one time, it happened to me and I was also under the power of the Holy Ghost. When I gave a testimony about what had happened, I took the name further and said that I was codesaring, a present continuous term for codesa. This is all a word that we made up in church for spiritual movements.
The word CODESA at that point actually referred to a specific dance that was widely known in South Africa, but it was originally the term that was used for negotiations that were held towards the end of apartheid South Africa to negotiate the way forward into a democratic country. As a result, we eventually named the angel of our church Angel Codesa. In Jesus Can … Life Centre Ministries, besides the undiluted preaching of the Word of God and prophecy, one of the main predominant gifts or ministries is spiritual dancing. At other times, prophecy would be uttered out through dancing or specific signs, and that is as a result of the angel of the church.I believe that this is not a comprehensive job description of the angel of the church. There is more that these angels do than what is recorded here, but what I have written is what the Lord has revealed to me. ANGELS OF RESTOn the 2nd of April 2018, it was the Monday after Easter Sunday.
We usually have Bible Study on Mondays at church. On that specific Monday, I did not go to church because of fatigue and not feeling well in my body. As I was home, the Lord revealed to me that He had sent me fifteen more angels than those that are normally with me. I did not understand why until Holy Spirit instructed me to find out the spiritual significance of the number fifteen. I found out that it is the number of rest. It then dawned to me that the Lord had sent them to me because I needed this rest, after a very busy Easter weekend. Praise the Lord. A day later, I really felt well-rested and restored enough to start life as normal again.
The Lord can assign angels of rest to you in accordance to the needs or condition of your body. Our God is really concerned about our well-being, and not just our spiritual state.1 Thessalonians 5:23Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
This verse shows that God desires for us to be complete not just in our spirit man, but in our body and soul as well. By the soul, He refers to our emotional and psychological aspect; and of course the body is the physical aspect of our being. God is really concerned about or bodies as well.My dear friend, we have come to the end of discussing the attributes of godly angels, although much more information about these angels has not been discussed. I believe that this is enough to bring conviction to you to be conscious of the angels that surround you.At the moment, we are now going to look at rebellious angels, or fallen angels as they are known.FALLEN ANGELSFallen angels are those who decided to rebel against God and were eventually cast out of Heaven.
Revelation 12: 7 – 9And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought,But they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.In these verses, it is clear that as a result of the rebellion of the devil, angels had to engage in some form of battle.
The result of that battle was that the devil and his followers, now known as fallen angels, or demons, were cast out of heaven. When they were cast out of heaven, they were thrown to the earth. There are a number of scriptures that show that the devil’s domain is now here on earth.Matthew 4: 8 – 9Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.
And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.”Dear friend, if you read these two verses carefully, you will see that the devil shows that he now owns the world. This is because when Adam and Eve fell into sin in the Garden as a result of deception, they lost their dominion over the world and handed it over to the enemy. If Satan had not been the ruler of the world, he would not have told the Lord Jesus Christ that he would give Him the glory and kingdoms of the world if He were to bow down to him. Thanks be to God that Jesus Christ finally overcame the enemy at the Cross of Calvary.
For us to claim that victory, all we have to do is accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour of our lives, then have faith that He has overcome the enemy. If we do so, we will then claim back that dominion that was taken from us in the Garden of Eden.Even though we walk in victory, we will always engage in battle in this life because the devil still wants to show that he is in control.1 John 2:15 – 16Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the father is not in him.
For all that is in the world – the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life – is not of the Father but is of the world.Again, these verses show us that the world, which refers to the systems that govern earthly life, belongs to the devil and not God. Our God owns the natural creation, but not the systems that have been set up by human intelligence. We are also not to rely on or put our trust on these worldly systems and principles.
What God owns is the earth and not the world…Psalm 24:1The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness…Reflecting on these two portions of Scripture, we can see that God owns the earth, and the devil is depicted as the ruler of the world. Satan does not own anything of the earth because he did not create anything. It is God who created the earth by speaking the Word. Now back to the devil being cast out of heaven, let us see how and why it happened… Isaiah 14: 12 – 15″How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, you who weakened the nations! For you have said in your heart: ‘I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation on the furthest sides of the north;I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.’Yet you shall be brought down to Shoel, to the lowest depths of the Pit.From this portion of Scripture, we can see that the enemy, Satan, or Lucifer wanted to become like God. He actually wanted to take the position of God, envious for something that is way beyond him.
The Bible says that he planned it all in his heart, but because our God is all-knowing, the enemy’s plan failed. As a result, he was cast out of heaven. He was of course, not thrown to the earth alone.2 Peter 2: 4For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgement.Jude 6And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgement of the great dayIn his plan to overthrow the Throne of the Lord of lords, there was a portion of angels that agreed with Lucifer’s plan, hence they were cast out into darkness. At the moment, some of these fallen angels roam the earth while others are in hell, just as some of the good angels are here on earth while others are in Heaven. The Word of God also testifies that these evil angels are roaming the earth right now, although they are chained.
Ephesians 2: 1 – 2And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins,In which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedienceEphesians 6:12For we do not fight against flesh and blood. But against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.I allude to these evil angels being chained, but not literally so. Similarly, there are millions of people around us who are chained spiritually, but they walk freely in the physical. With that being said; these angels, or demons are all over the world, but they are imprisoned, waiting for their final judgement. These fallen angels are working hard to deceive as many people as possible into not believing the Gospel of Christ so that they do not have to go through the second death alone.
These angels are depicted in the book of Ephesians as rulers of darkness in heavenly places. This is the spiritual realm. They rule the dark side of the spiritual realm and seek to bring as many people as possible onto their side.
Revelation 12:4His tail drew a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to give birth, to devour her Child as soon as it was born.According to this verse, after the devil attempted to overthrow the throne of God, he was cast out of heaven, along with a third of the angels, who were on his side. Furthermore, the verse alludes to the fact that during the time of the birth of Jesus Christ, the devil attempted to have Him killed as a child by using Herod, who sought to kill all male children during the time of the birth of our Lord and Saviour.Fallen angels are now hard at work to make sure that they approach the Lake of Fire, which is the second death with as many unrepentant souls as possible.Dear friend, I have a question: if the devil took only a third of the angels, it means that there are two thirds remaining on the Lord’s side. This means that for every evil angel, there are two God-fearing angels. Therefore why is it that there are more unbelievers and unfruitful Christians than those who genuinely live for Christ? This shows that these evil angels are actually working much harder than us to win as many souls as possible to their side. This is also a call for us Christians to pull up our socks as we cannot be undermined by those who are much less than us in strength and number amongst other factors. With the assistance of angels at our disposal, we can overpower the enemy’s camp and show that the earth is our Father’s. Dear friend. I believe that you were blessed by this chapter, and now know that you are never alone. Before I close the chapter, allow me to give you this word of wisdom: whenever you are tempted to sin, before you give in to that temptation, remember that there is a number of angels that are watching you. Imagine what they are thinking or saying as they watch you committing that sin. You are more than a conqueror my dear friend.
