Thomas highway was born on Maria Lake away up in Northern Manitoba, belongs to Brochet, Manitoba. he was born in a tent on December 6, 1951 as well as his brothers and sisters. Thomas’s Father Joe Highway was a trapper/fisherman and a legendary dog-sledder, several relatives have won this race many times over the years in the event World Dog Derby at the Pas trapper’s festival. Thomas had 12 other siblings, five boys and seven girls. Thomas was sent to a Roman Catholic boarding school at the Guy Hill Indian Residential school in the Pas, Manitoba, when he was six years old for nine years, completed grade nine, during school years he would visit home for two months every summer.
