Nonmaleficence The Hippocratic Oath expresses the duty of nonmaleficence together with the duty of beneficence. We dedicate the following oath to as a nurse. “I will use treatment to help the risk according to my ability and judgment, but I will never use it to injure or wrong them.” As a nurse we have a duty to protect the patient safety. As a caregiver we can not inflict harm on patient, do not cause pain or suffering, do not incapacitate, do not cause offence, do not deprive patient and do not kill the patient.
