I have always had an interest in scientific subjects right from an early age, this is one of the reasons I decided to study NVQ and AVCE science, which consist of Biology, Chemistry and Physics at college. I then went further in studying BSC Forensic Science at University of Kent. I look forward to starting my nursing degree so I can broaden my scientific knowledge of the medical profession and use that to help others. After finishing my BSC in Forensic Science, I decided to work as a health care assistant to gain the experience to study MSC in Health and Social care.
During my time at the nursing home, I enjoyed talking to and caring for residents and developing relationships with them and this is something that really attracts me to adult nursing. My experience working in the nursing home also taught me how to work well in team with other professionals and made me appreciate how important it is to follow instructions given to me. It was at the nursing home that I discovered my talent of providing reassurance to people who may be feeling anxious or confused and I think this is an important skill to have as a nurse. This was to confirm that Nursing is the right career for me, the longer I spend within this area the more certain that I am. Each day I love to go into work and care for the patients I am assigned to.
I enjoy every aspect of the care which I give and find my work immensely rewarding; I now feel that I am ready for the next stage in my career. During my role as a Carer/Healthcare assistant I learnt that to be a great nurse; you must have a solid communication skill. It’s one of the most important aspects of the job. A great nurse has excellent communication skills, especially when it comes to speaking and listening. You must also have empathy for the pain and suffering of patients.
A great nurse has excellent interpersonal skills and works well in a variety of situations with different people. Good nurses also respect and are mindful of confidentiality requirements; they must have emotional stability and physical endurance. I am happy to say that I have enquired all these skills with my many years of working. My hubbies are reading, listening to music, swimming, spending time with my kids and meeting up with friends for some relaxation time. I am very enthusiastic about nursing as a career; I know I can take on challenges.
I have the motivation and determination to achieve my desired career.
