Severalimportant considerations that must factor into the decision: hauling capacity, size, occupants, driving conditions, miles per year, technology, comfort, andtowing capacity.  Gross vehicleweight ranges (GVWRs) determine what size a truck is.  A mid size truck ranges from 4,300 to 6,000 lbs.

Where as, a full-size truck is from6,400 to 13,300 lbs.  Hauling andtowing capacity are perhaps the two most important considerations to initiallyaddress.  Badger Folk has minimalneed for hauling and towing. However, price point, technology, and miles per gallon are threeextremely important considerations that will heavily influence the decision.

Vehicle SizeVehicle sizes of½, ¾, and 1-ton were the standard to identify payload capabilities.  These terms are somewhat ambiguous.   As improvements are made, theclasses overlap, however these terms are still used as a basic startingpoint.  V-6 and V-8 engines areoffered in both mid and full sized trucks.  The size of the truck bed is also important toresearch.  Short bed, 5.

5 ft,standard bed, 6.6 ft, long bed, 8 ft. Knowing bed length requirements for specific job applications iscrucial. Number of doors / InteriorCab layoutdetermines the number of people or equipment that be carried inside thetruck.  Regular cab, a bench seator two bucket seats, very little storage behind the seat.  Extended cab, extra fold down seats orbench seat, very little leg room in back seat.

Crew cab, four doors, seats between four and six dependingon seats vs bench choices. Choosing between seat material. Vinyl is a low cost option, great for a work truck.  Cloth seats are more comfortable, butalso harder to clean.  Leatherseats are a higher cost, and less practical for a work truck. Extra optionsFor mostvehicles air conditioning is now a standard feature.  Work trucks don’t tend to come with power options for thelocks, doors and windows.

Availableoptions for managing whatever is being hauled are also important.  Technology packages also can addbenefit and increased usability in a work truck.  GPS, on-star, or other electronics packages make the truckwork harder for the company.

Otherelectronics packages can make the truck more enjoyable for the employee.  This is a significant perk foremployees that spend a lot of time in the vehicle driving between job sites.
