Many people just go to fast food restaurants such as McDonalds, or just warm something up in the microwave. Mexican food is fresh and homemade. Mexican food is so much more than what many people think.
Mexican food gets its background from different regions, Meat dishes are popular in the north and more vegetable dishes are more to the south, and people that live along the sea tend to like seafood more. Mexican food has a long background, it is believed to be created by the Mayan Indians. They were traditionally a nomadic hunter and gatherer . Corn tortillas with bean paste were a common food item but they also ate wild game, tropic fruits, and fish. In the mid 1300’s, The Aztec Empire was booming, and though the Mayan food staples were still in use, chili peppers, honey, salt and chocolate found its way into their cooking. Some of the wild game, such as turkey and duck, had now become subdued
Enchiladas were created in Mexico, where the practice of rolling tortillas around other food goes back at least to Mayan times. The people living in the lake region of the Valley of Mexico normally ate corn tortillas folded or rolled around small fish. In their original form as Mexican street food, enchiladas were simply corn tortillas dipped in chili sauce and eaten with no fillings. In the 19th century, as Mexican cuisine was being memorialized, enchiladas were mentioned in the first Mexican cookbook, El cocinero mexicano, published in 1831, and in Mariano Galván Rivera’s Diccionario de Cocina, published in 1845. Charles E. Erath of New Orleans was the first person in salsa sauce history who began manufacturing Extract of Louisiana Pepper, Red Hot Creole Pepper Sauce in 1916. A year later, La Victoria Foods started Salsa Brava in Los Angeles.
Mexican food is one of the most popular cuisines of the world, with its famous tacos, nachos or the enchiladas. Mexican Cooking delights have turned on the taste buds of food-lovers all over the world. Popular Mexican dishes are now available in multi-cuisine restaurants across the globe. However, Mexican cuisine is much more than the popular spicy salsa and the refreshing guacamole.Chili peppers play a big part in Mexican food. These and salt were so important to the people of central Mexico that special religious fasts involved avoiding them.
Mexican cuisine is less complex as other ancient cuisines, such as those of China and Japan. It is created mostly with ingredients native to Mexico, as well as those brought over by the Spanish conquistadors, with some new influences since then. Also to staples, such as corn and chile peppers, native ingredients include tomatoes, squashes, avocados, cocoa and vanilla, as well as ingredients not generally used in other cuisines, such as edible flowers, vegetables like huauzontle and papaloquelite, or small criollo avocados, whose skin is edible.
Other than wheat and rice in Mexico, the basic starch remains corn in almost all areas of the country and is the main part of many recipes. While it is eaten fresh, most corn is dried, nixtamalized and ground into a dough called masa. This dough is used both fresh and fermented to make a wide variety of dishes from drinks to tamales, sopes, and much more. However, the most common way to eat corn in Mexico is in the form of a tortilla, which accompanies almost every dish.
In conclusion mexican food is a very special type of food. I think that mexican food is some of the best personally. Mexican has earned its huge about of respect. Mexican food is the roots of many family’s. The food is fairly cheap and also taste homemade and very good. Mexican food it pretty complex but not as complex as other countrys such as japan.
