In order not to become cancer, measures are taken such as healthy life and nutrition. One of these measures is antioxidants.   Antioxidants are a chemical substance that can be obtained by nutrition as we already have in our bodies.The most important benefit of antioxidants comes from protecting our bodies against all the disturbances that can be caused by free radicals that threaten human health. Particularly effective in preventing cancer, heart and diabetes and infectious diseases.   Antioxidants are a measure to avoid such ailments rather than a form of treatment.

There are various antioxidants that are taken in the body and produced in the body. Experimental studies support the role of reactive oxygen species in cancer, in part by showing that dietary antioxidants as well as endogenous antioxidants that neutralize or trap reactive oxygen species act as cancer preventive agents.    Antioxidants generally play a supporting role in the treatment of cancer. Antioxidants are generally used to oxidize free radicals in the body during chemotherapy and radiotherapy and make them harmless to the body. which is an indication that antioxidants are used for preventive and supportive purposes, not for therapeutic purposes.

     Consequently,(Borek C, Troll W.,1983) Antioxidants protect against oncogenic transformation by radiation and free radical–producing anticancer drugs. Antioxidants do reduce the painful side effects of radiation and chemotherapy, thus supporting the beneficial effects of antioxidants in protecting normal cells during treatment in the treatment of certain cancers but does not provide a complete cancer treatment.(p.1304)
